Summary

SIMON HELBERG is a Critics Choice Award-winner and Golden Globe-nominated actor, producer, writer, director, and musician who is celebrated for his scene-stealing comedic performances across film and television.

Up next, Helberg will be starring in the new Jonathan Glatzer AMC series THE AUDACITY coming out on April 12th. He stars opposite Billy Magnussen, Sarah Goldberg and Zach Galifianakis in the Silicon Valley drama. The highly anticipated series has been renewed for a 2nd season prior to its launch. Helberg most recently reprised his role as ‘FBI Agent Luca Clark’ opposite Natasha Lyonne in Season 2 of POKER FACE, Rian Johnson’s acclaimed mystery series for Peacock.

Helberg previously starred opposite Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard in Leos Carax’s ANNETTE, which opened the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and is currently streaming on Amazon. In 2016, he starred opposite Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Stephen Frears’ FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS, and earned a Golden Globe nomination for his captivating performance as pianist ‘Cosme McMoon,’ playing all of the music in the film live. Helberg can also be seen starring opposite Dustin Hoffman and Candice Bergen in AS THEY MADE US, as well as having memorable roles in the Coen Brothers’ A SERIOUS MAN, GOODNIGHT AND GOOD LUCK, OLD SCHOOL, and many others.

Helberg co-directed, wrote and starred in the indie feature, WE’LL NEVER HAVE PARIS, alongside Melanie Lynskey, Alfred Molina, and Zachary Quinto. The semi-autobiographical film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2014, where it sold to MGM, and went on to play at numerous festivals, including Edinburgh and Newport, where it received the audience award.

Helberg first gained national recognition for his portrayal of ‘Howard Wolowitz’ in CBS’ award-winning series, THE BIG BANG THEORY, earning him a Critics Choice TV Award in the category of “Best Supporting Actor” in 2013. The series remained the number one scripted show for six of its record-setting twelve season run.

In this Masterclass, Simon Helberg will reflect on his exceptional journey through a selection of clips exploring the transition from the razor-sharp precision of sitcoms to the sets of today’s most visionary filmmakers.

The masterclass will be moderated by journalist Perrine Quennesson.
