Synopsis

Set in the 1970s and 80s, during Brazilian military dictatorship, we follow Raul Seixas, “Father of Brazilian Rock”, into his journey getting involved with the occult, his friendship with Paulo Coelho, worldwide literary phenomenon and his increasing messianic status among fans while his personal life colapse in family conflict and substance abuse.

Our take

As the Bus Palladium electrified Parisian nights and Woodstock crowned the new Anglo-Saxon music scene, Brazil was slowly finding its own liberation to the sound of Raul Seixas. A kaleidoscopic exploration of a fiercely independent musician, this series shifts between flamboyant drama, oblivion, and the fading illusions of the hippie era, painting a vivid portrait of 1970s Brazil. Directed by Paulo Morelli (City of Men) and his son Pedro Morelli, the series marks Brazil’s rocking debut in the official selection at Series Mania.
