Synopsis

Shortly after arriving to discover her ancestral homeland, Billie is forced to flee due to a sudden uprising. Trapped with her father in her grandfather’s house as he fades into Alzheimer’s, she has only one hour before the embassy arrives. In this race against time, she must unearth the family secrets and the decades of exile that haunt her father.

Adapted from the graphic novel Les Fusibles by Joseph Safieddine (Editions Dupuis, 2023).

Our take

Set in a near-real-time huis clos, The Last Hour portrays the reunion of a family torn apart by the violence that has broken out on the streets. Moving beyond geopolitical realism, the series adopts a theatrical approach to explore the fractures of an uprooted lineage. Between unspoken truths and the need to reconnect, this transgenerational drama transforms the instability of the Middle East into a universal quest for belonging, where each generation struggles to find its place.
