Serie: 9 x 18min
Synopsis
Unfiltered follows three teenagers as they sext, swipe, and post, facing the messy truth of who they really are versus the selves they show online. Among them, fifteen-year-old Charlie, a trans boy at the start of his transition, struggles with gender dysphoria. To navigate the dating world, he turns to virtual tools to alter his physical appearance online, only to face a shattering experience when his digital mask collides with the truth.
Our take
Moving beyond binary thinking, Unfiltered delicately explores Gen Z’s organic relationship with the digital world, depicting online spaces as a paradoxical landscape, both a sanctuary for self-affirmation and a distorted mirror. In the three episodes presented at Series Mania, a transition journey is portrayed with remarkable accuracy, dramatizing the desire to be one’s true self, in the virtual flow as much as in reality.
